The Challenge

My husband used to be in the USAF as an Ammo Troop.  Now he has found himself longing for mementos of his military days.  We no longer live near an Air Force base, so we find ourselves in a quandary.  He wants things that relate to "Ammo" such as coins, license plates, etc.  It seems that once you are out of the military these things are not so easy to obtain.

I have tried ebay for them, but they only offer so much.  It seems as though the few things that they do offer are the same things over and over and over again.  Web searches pretty much turn up the same thing... nothing.  That is unless you want to pay $500 to get a die made and a minimum order put in for coins.  Yikes!

Hubby would love to have just a regular Ammo challenge coin.  Nothing fancy, just the basic one with the pisspot on the front and the "providing the enemy the opportunity to die for it's country" on the back.  I would love to see him be able to get coins from his three main bases:  Incirlik AFB, Turkey; Hurlburt Field, Florida and Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.  The trouble is finding the plain (no colors added) bronze or silver coins.

If anyone knows where to get these coins, please let me know.  As for right now I am going back to running another web search.  Wish me luck!

I just graduated from the AMMO school. I am leaving for Aviano ABS, Italy in 6 days. I have a bronze AMMO coin fitting your description and would be willing to sacrafice it for an AMMO troop. The one thing i have learned about AMMO, is that it is more than a career field... it is a family. And i would do anything for my family. My email now is p_musgrave09@yahoo.com but it will be getting a new one once i get to Aviano. please contact for info.
